Paint Shop Pro Tutorial by NeroStreet Paint Shop Pro Tutorial by NeroStreet
Here it is, Nami! The Paint Shop Pro Tutorial, just as I promised! Of course, anyone who wants to use this tutorial is free to do so.

Does anybody know how to get preview images with this thing? >.O;

Hopefully everything makes sense. ^^;

Koro is MY character!

*~FAQ~*

I can't find the Threshold option!
No problem! Just use the Brightness/Contrast tool. It should be under Color. Just turn the contrast all the way up and you'll get the same effect.

Which is better: Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro?
That really all depends on your opinion and which version you own. I recommend PSP if you're just starting out because Photoshop can be a bit difficult to master, but f you're more experienced and serious about digital art, Photoshop might be the way to go.

I've been working on a shading tutorial for YEARS but it never seems to get done. X| Until I get off my but and finish it (if I finish) is there anything specific you want to ask me about shading until then?

What tool do you use to cell shade and how(if you're able to tell me)? ^^;
Reply
:iconnerostreet:
NeroStreet Featured By Owner Nov 25, 2009  Professional Filmographer
Well, the simplest way to do cell shading is the use the pencil tool. (If you're using Photoshop, click and hold the paintbrush tool then choose the pencil.) Then just use a small pencil, outline your shading, then just fill it with the paint bucket tool.

However you do shading, make sure you do it on a separate layer between your colors and outline layers. That way, you don't mess up your image.

can u pls help me i want to learn coloring but i can't find the layer palette i have jasc paint 9
Reply
:iconnerostreet:
NeroStreet Featured By Owner Jun 21, 2009  Professional Filmographer
Hmm... chances are you just don't have the layers window open. I'm not sure what the layout of Jasc Paint 9 looks like, but on PSP7, on the top toolbar, there should be all the different palettes. If you mouse over them, it will tell you the different palettes. Look for the one that says "Toggle Layer Palette" and click on it. Your layer window should open. You can also open and close it by pressing "L".
If that doesn't work, I know in Photoshop you can find it under the "Windows" drop-down menu.

Hope that helps!

Try using the brightness/contrast instead. Turn the contrast all the way up and you'll pretty much get the same result. =)

Hey, thanks for this. Do you happen to have any shading and toning tutorials btw? Since it's all very confusing despite being easier than photoshop as everyone's been saying.
